Rosanne Philippens (violin) / Ben Goldscheider (horn) / Fiachra Garvey (piano)
Classical Vauxhall’s opening night programme features works reflecting the theme of love and loss. The monumental Franck’s violin sonata was written as a wedding gift for the renowned violinist Ysaÿe and is a rollercoaster of emotion, to say the least. The Brahms Horn Trio (which was inspired by the death of the composer’s mother) has an elegiac expressiveness that is enough to bring a tear or two to even the most stoic of listeners. Get those tissues ready.
