A dance between light and dark, this evening presents two of the most iconic works by Austrian composer Schubert and Soviet-Russian composer and pianist Shostakovich.

Schubert’s trio is an outburst of melody, breathtaking and ground-breaking in form and structure, showing a new way and a new light. In contrast, Shostakovich’s trio evokes memories of the Nazi death camps on the eastern front in an equally haunting and terrifying measure. This work is one of joy and bitterness.
