This International Women’s Day, we’re shining a light on just a handful of the women redefining what leadership looks like in our corner of London. Whether they’re running businesses, leading communities, or shaking up the arts, education, and wellness scenes, these trailblazers are proving that when women take the reins, the whole neighbourhood levels up.
Neema has long been at the helm of two of Vauxhall’s most beloved floating venues—Tamesis Dock and The Battersea Barge. Under her leadership, these iconic spots have become vibrant hubs, hosting live music, delicious pizza, and community events. Her passion for creating inclusive and creative spaces has cemented their reputation as must-visit destinations along the Thames.
Vauxhall City Farm has been a cornerstone of the community for 50 years, offering education, therapy, and engagement opportunities for all. In 2025, the farm continues to thrive under the leadership of Rachel Roxburgh, the new CEO. With a team that is 90% women, their dedication to sustainability, education, and wellbeing makes the farm a powerful force for social change.
As the Director of Boury Academy, Caroline Boury is at the forefront of arts education in Vauxhall. Her work provides young people with access to top-tier training in dance, acting, and performance, ensuring that creative opportunities are available to all, regardless of background. Through her academy, Caroline is fostering the next generation of performers and artists, helping them find confidence and a voice in the arts.
As Deputy Director of Gasworks & Triangle Network, Rosa Harvest plays a crucial role in supporting emerging artists from around the world. With a focus on innovation and inclusivity, she helps bring groundbreaking exhibitions and artist residencies to Vauxhall. Her work ensures that local and international artists alike have a platform to showcase their creativity and connect with audiences.
Reahana Gordon is a mentor, coach, and leader at Fight 4 Change, helping young people in Lambeth build confidence through boxing and mentorship. Having trained at the gym since she was seven, she now guides the next generation as an assistant coach and coordinator of the Lambeth Young Advisers group. Her deep connection to the community and dedication to youth empowerment make her a vital force for positive change in Vauxhall.
Anna is the visionary behind Metropolis London, a vibrant street food and drinks venue under Albert Embankment’s arches. Her leadership has transformed the space into a destination for food lovers and social gatherings. With a focus on diverse culinary offerings, community engagement, and a welcoming atmosphere.
Lisa Milnes, founder of Five Element Acupuncture – South London Acupuncture, is bringing ancient healing practices to the heart of Vauxhall. As a highly qualified acupuncturist (LicAc MBAcC), Lisa is helping locals find balance, wellness, and relief from pain through her expert treatments.
