The festivities may be over but don’t let that bog you down. 2023 is here to start with a bang and Vauxhall has some events you don’t want to miss. Here’s a taste of what January in Vauxhall has in store for you.

Free/Discounted Music Training and Recording

If you’re a local musician in the making, World Heart Beat is here to support you with free 1-1 training and free or discounted recording. From the basics of recording to must-dos of publicity, this is your opportunity to learn and practise all the skills you need to up your game.

Thursday 5th 

The Boury Academy Open Auditions

Give yourself a chance to shine on stage by auditioning for the Boury Academy’s singing and dance team. If you’re between the ages of 15 and 18 or know someone who is, this is the place to bring out your inner performer.

Saturday 7th

Japanese Pop Up Classes

If you’re looking to pick up some new dance moves before you head out for your Saturday night, Base Dance Studios has two special workshops for you. Focussing on Japanese dance from beginners to professionals, everybody is welcome. Just pick the style you want to try out and book your space.

Sunday 8th 

Ding Dong Gong Show

Fight the cold nights with endless laughter at Vauxhall Comedy Club’s Sunday Night Ding Dong Gong Show. This isn’t just a comedy show. Here the fate of new comedians is in your hands so if they can’t make you laugh, you can make them cry (and it’s all in good spirit).

Monday 9th

Affordable yoga and Pilates

Start the week by investing in your physical and mental well-being. Claire Hawkins’ yoga and pilates classes throughout the day, both online and in-person for you to fit into your schedule. She has also got classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so be sure to check those out too.

Marie Lloyd Stole My Life

Expect tales of female emancipation, divorce laws and the great inequalities and double standards of life in Victorian England. Discover the story of Nelly Power and her life in Victorian England.

Saturday 14th

First and Quirky Vauxhall walk 

Here’s your chance to get to know the history and hidden gems of your favourite hood in town with a fun and interactive walking tour. This 3 hour walk ends at the Black Dog pub for Q&As where you can grab a hard earned pint and kick-off the rest of your Saturday.

Tuesday 17th 

Bar Wotever

Experience a Cabaret performance like never before that’s fun, inclusive and running for almost two decades. One of London’s best queer Cabaret events is back to get you off your feet with its vibrant environment that is welcome to all, whether performers or audiences.

Thursday 19th 

King of Clubs Drag Night  

South London’s dedicated drag king night is back at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern with a line up that’s oozing talent. Hosted by one of the legendary Rebel Dykes, King Frankie Sinatra, this event is sure to make your week better.

Saturday 21st 

Sofar Sounds

With the aim to unleash the magic of live music, Sofar is hosting their next event right here in Vauxhall. Sofar maintains the charm of art with the mystery element of the location that will be revealed 3 days before the event. The guarantee is that a personal experience and lovely crowds await you.

Saturday 28th

Australia day 

Take four railway arches with very swanky sound systems, add more Aussie DJ’s, Bingo hosts, and bands than you know what to do with, and pour on top half of South West London’s bar staff, you’ll get this fiesta of bogan delight. You’ll be upside down in no time.

London winter walk 

Put your best foot forward with a charity fundraising walk. You can either go for a marathon, half marathon, or 10km ‘stroll’ along the Thames.
