If the idea of filling your fridge with homemade rhubarb jam, pickled beetroots and herby cheese sounds makes you feel all warm and homely, then book yourself in for Plot to Plate, an afternoon masterclass at the Garden Museum.

There, Kathy Slack of Gluts and Gluttony, the organic allotment cooking blog, will teach the basics of how to grow, harvest and cook your own food. Don’t have a garden or allotment? You can still get involved — even a windowsill is enough to get you started, Kathy will explain. She’ll also give you a grounding in how to make the most of seasonal gluts and how to cook with what you’ve grown, sending you home with a selection of recipes and a pot of seeds to get you started. Lunch is included, and everyone’s welcome to attend regardless of their skill level.
