Take the kids to The Workshop for a different kind of summer fun on 14 August. In a full day skills camp they can learn how to use a BBC Micro:bit, a tiny programmable computer which can be used to create anything from robots to musical instruments.

Working in small teams, they will learn how to code their Micro:bit, and then will then design, build and programme their own moving and interactive robot animal using motors, lights and sensors, arts and crafts. Children will learn coding and invention skills using the Make Code interface and they’ll get to stretch their creative invention and thinking skills using arts and crafts to personalise and make their robot animals. The workshop is for children aged 7-12 of all abilities, and allows those with previous experience of Micro:bit to work on more complicated projects.
