Bored of socks, scented candles and posh preserves? Looking for something more exciting to give (or drop hints about) this Christmas?

After a fantastic debut last year, the Beautiful & Useful craft fair is back at the Garden Museum this November, offering an exciting, inspiring mix of ceramics, wood, glass, metalwork and more from around 25 talented designer-makers. Work on offer will include contemporary trugs by Jane Crisp; beautiful hand-turned wooden bowls from the Bird & Branch Turnery Co.; Heidi Harrington’s screen-printed moon jars and cylinder vases; Bee Bowen’s naturally dyed silk scarves; woven willow baskets by Christiane Gunzi; fabrics produced from hand-cut lino prints by Kiran Ravilious; and vegetable-tanned leather goods by London-based Anna Walker. Tickets cost £5 in advance or £6 on the door and include entrance to the museum’s collections (normally £10) and the Dan Pearson-designed garden. The award-winning Garden Café will also be open serving seasonal lunch, drinks and refreshments, making this one of the most enjoyable pre-Christmas shopping experiences around.
