The Institute of Imagination is a Charity, creating space for children to re-imagine the world. From the first mark on a cave wall to the first footsteps on the Moon, mankind’s greatest developments have begun with leaps of someone’s imagination. They believe imagination is a vital human resource and that it needs space to thrive. Our activities provide that much-needed space.

Imagination is the cornerstone of creativity, problem solving and innovation. It is a vital skill for life. In an era of rapid global change, being able to imagine a world that doesn’t yet exist has never been more important. That’s why we have made it our mission to create space for children to re-imagine the world. We are creating a new world-class cultural destination in London, which will put children at its heart. The Institute of Imagination Campus will be one of a kind – a hybrid between a museum, gallery, community centre, science centre and laboratory. A dedicated space for children, families and schools to explore, experiment, make, play and create together. From here, we will spark imaginations across the globe.

We are already running events, workshops and activities from our Imagination Lab, an innovative space in Vauxhall. Our approach fuses science, technology and the arts to nurture creativity, collaboration and well-being alongside technical skills like making, programming and engineering – providing children with the skills they need for the future. And we’re not alone. We’re working with experts, teachers, parents and – most important of all – children, to ensure we provide a space that they want and need. We’re already engaging over 20,000 individuals every year and continue to test and prototype our methods and approach.
