Since 1661, people have been coming to Vauxhall to have fun. The area has a distinct character and identity, with a rich cultural heritage of late-night entertainment and frivolity. Everybody is welcome, and anything goes.

Vauxhall’s Illustrious Past

Vauxhall has an intriguing social history. In the 1700s the area was renowned across Europe for its culture, fashion and entertainment. Visitors would come to indulge their senses, to enjoy operas and orchestras, and to be wowed by acrobats, performers and fireworks while quaffing champagne or glugging ales.

TfL cycle superhighways CS5 and CS8 are great ways to cycle to Vauxhall from Wandsworth via Battersea. Quiet route Q5 is great for visiting Vauxhall from Clapham. There are TfL Hire Stands at Kennington Lane Tesco, Vauxhall Walk, Oval Way, Kennington Oval, Ashmole Estate, Kennington Lane Rail Bridge and New Spring Gardens Walk.

Vauxhall One

Vauxhall One is the Business Improvement District (BID) for Vauxhall. As a non-profit organisation, led and funded by its member businesses, its remit is to invest in and improve the local area.

Vauxhall’s Transformation

Vauxhall occupies a prime spot in central London, a short stroll from the Houses of Parliament. Identified in the London Plan as a hub for tall buildings, its new skyline is now taking shape.
